About Me

Overview

My name is Zach Dodson and I am a senior at Indiana University. I am in the Secondary Social Studies Education program and I am also acquiring a Computer Education License addition. I was born in raised in Evansville, Indiana.

I graduated from Evansville North High School and was a member of the National Honors Society. While at North High School I played Football for four years. I was a member of Student Council, DECA, and competed in We The People for my school.

I have one younger sister who is currently a senior at North High School. My mother and father have always been very supportive of my decision to become a teacher. My mother works in Education and my father is a lawyer. I also have a Beagle/Bulldog named Dixie.

Interests

I have always been a huge sports fan. Since I was young I have always been a big Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan. I can say that one of the best moments of my life was being able to rush the floor when IU beat Kentucky last year as a student. I am also really into football and have been a die hard Colts fan since I can remember. Going to sporting events has been a passion of mine and I love to watch Sportscenter and keep on all of the action in the sports world.

I am also very interested in technology. Apple products have always been my favorite and I have only ever owned an Apple computer. I hope to be able to find new and exciting ways to use technology in the classroom.

I am also a huge movie buff. I love going to see movies and watching movies and tv series when I have down time. I do not know if I could pick one favorite movie, but I will say the Shawshank Redemption is probably in the top 5.

Why I wanted to become a teacher

I have always been really into History throughout my K-12 experience. Some of my history teachers in High School really got me excited about the field of History and I want to bring that same passion they had to the classroom. My Government teacher reallty inspired me to want to teach because he always found a way to make material exciting and engaging in the classroom. I look forward to the exciting new challenges ahead of me. I am excited for my upcoming field experiences and I hope that I find ways to become more confident in the classroom, manage a classroom setting, and use effective teaching strategies.
